Analysis of Promotion Packages 2 - Razorlight. (The CD & Digipak)

CD & Digipak.

This is the front cover of the album. It is very plain and simple. The photograph is a black and white long shot of the band on a white studio background with the name of the band/album in very simple, easy to read writing. There is a sticker in the bottom right corner which says 'special edition' and one in the bottom left corner which is telling people which singles are on the album which is a selling point for some people.

The back of the album contrasts the black and white front cover because it is bright red. The font of the track listing is the same as on the front of the CD but it is not numbered (like the Arctic Monkeys CD). There is the record label logo on the bottom of the album (Vertigo) like the Arctic Monkeys album.

The actual CD follows the theme of the front cover by being black and white and having the name of the band/album on it in the same font as the rest of the CD cover. The black and white pattern on the CD is the Vertigo logo. I have never seen the logo take up a CD before but I quite like the idea, as it sells the record label as well as the band.

There is a picture of the front man and the guitarist on a plane behind the CD. The picture of them is very low key lighting and very casual. You can tell this wasn't a planned photograph but again it sells the band by showing they travel and we assume it's to play shows.

This is the digipak for the album. There are 5 different shots of aeroplane smoke lines in the sky. This kind of links to the photograph behind the CD. The times the photographs were taken are just below the photographs on the right side. I'm not sure why these are part of the digipak.

The handprints are of the band members, it states their name and what they do in the band. The paragraph of writing below the hand prints tells you a little bit about the member and what they were doing  while recording the album.

There is a double page of studio shots of the band, these are all in black and white which fits with the overall look of the album cover. There are lots of different shot types of the band in the studio record the album which I think it a very nice touch to the digipak.
